Thornton Pre-School Playgroup was established in 1966 and provides sessional care from 8.45am until 11.45am, 1 hour lunch - 11.45am until 12.45pm and 12.45pm until 3.45pm for children aged 2yrs to 4yrs 11 months. Although the Pre-School is based within Baines Endowed School, it is an independent business and there is no right to a place in Baines Endowed due to a child having attended Thornton Pre-School.
The Pre-School has a maximum of 26 children per session and a total of 10 sessions per week. The Pre-School covers the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum which covers all children from birth to the end of their 5th year. In the term after their 3rd birthday all children are entitled to fifteen hours free Nursery Education Grant.
All staff at Thornton Pre-School have a diverse range of childcare qualifications, plus many years of experience.
